My name Mondet Youn ,26 years old, a young indigenous person from Ratanakiri province. I have 5 siblings and graduated from high school in 2017, completed a leadership degree in 2020, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in music in 2024.
Nowaday I'm an independent artist,Solo singer, also a Musicians writer and misicians singing songs in both indigenous and Khmer languages. Specially Indigenous language.

In Cambodia has 24 indigenous groups, with the largest 8 groups in Ratanakiri province in the eastern region, including the Tumpoun, Charay, Kreung, Pov, Ka Vet, Kachak, Lun, and Poonong ( 8 group ទំពួន ចារ៉ាយ គ្រឹង ព្រៅ កាវ៉ែត កាចក លុន ពូនង)

There are many indigenous musical instruments according to the ancient stories, and I know and see some only as young Generation such as: thas, gong, gong soeng, mom, pong ambong, hethot.
*The Thas(ថាស) has 2 pieces, used to kill buffalo, sen roek, big gongs,
*The Gong (គង)13 pieces, they are played for the ceremony of farewell, marriage ceremony and Pray (សែនព្រេន)
*The Gong Roeng(គងរីង) is played for the oil ច្រេងទូល, depicting the joy of the bride and groom,
*The Merm (ម៉ិម)showing the pain, meem is played to express the worries, fears and pain of the locals.
*The Pong ambong(ប៉ូងអំប៉ូង) is played for the folk dance during the festival.

The Reason I like and love the arts, music, culture, music allows me to express my feelings, joys, life story through music.
My Vission
As a indigenous traditions culture, it is an identity, a legacy, an ancestral heritage that has been in Cambodia for thousands of years. I must preserve, value, and promote it to others. In Cambodia, 70% to 80% of people dont know it. So, I want to announce that we have writing and singing songs in both indigenous and Khmer languages to ASEAN and to the Entire world.
